Want red hair? Great! Here's how!
(Tips at the end)
Here are some questions that you will want to ask yourself.
Do you want natural looking red hair or unnatural?
Are you ok with spending a bit more money on your hair?
What is your skin tone - warm or cool?

Once you've answered these questions start looking at pictures of red hair. Did you find something that you like? Great. If you're going to the salon for the colour, you can skip these steps until the Care/Maintenance section. If you are making a drastic change, it may be wiser to go to a salon. However, if you are going to do it yourself you should read this.
Now find out if you are cool toned or warm toned. Most often you would want to stick with the tone that matches your skin.
Shopping for Hair Dye
I would almost always say that you want to stay away from Box Hair dyes. These hair dyes are created for a wide variety of hair colours. This means your hair will most likely go thru more than it should to attain the colour that you want. If you trust yourself, have experience with colouring your hair and are aware that the results will not be like those that you would get at a salon, try it yourself.
You will need to buy a tube of hair dye and a developer. Developer is peroxide; it will lift your previous colour and help deposit your new colour. The volume of peroxide that you will use will depend on various factors. If you are only making a minor adjustment you won't need as much peroxide as someone who is making a more drastic change. Familiarize yourself with the various volumes of developers and which corresponds to the process that you are doing.
A great place to find hair dye and developer is Sally's. They have a wide selection of hair dye colours. Ion is probably my favourite brand. http://www.sallybeauty.com. For me to colour my medium length hair red, it costs me about 7$. I for one, cannot spend hundreds of dollars on my hair colour every month or so.
Maintenance & Treatments
We all know that red hair is hard to maintain. I will be honest with you; it his hard, but it does not have to be expensive. Here's a list of "rules" that you should stick too!
Buy products that won't strip your hair colour. This includes buying sulfate free shampoo & conditioner. Make sure that you have a great hair masks: my favourites are Redken and Garnier. Don't be afraid to make your own hair masks. I like to use coconut oil and olive oil. To give your hair colour a bit of a boost - you can add some carrot juice to copper hair or berries for red hair.
Tips
1. Wash your hair less. At least every second day if not more!
2. Take super duper quick showers: water removes hair colour. Set a timer or an alarm on your phone to alert you after 5 minutes!
3. If you will be going swimming - before entering the pool put some conditioner on your hair. This will protect your colour (this works - swimmer approved!). You can also buy after swimming shampoos.
4. If your hair is healthy, but it's very fine and limp - add a colour to your hair. The added colour will increase the size of your hair shaft giving you the appearance of more hair.
5. Add carrots to your hair masks to add copper tones to your hair or berries onto red hair to brighten your colour before a big event.

Bonjour & Welcome
Hello Hello! My name is Sarah and I would like to welcome you to my blog. Here you will find a ton of information on beauty, lifestyle, travel, and culture! All articles are written in french and in english. Although french is my first language, I have lost most of it. This is partly why I am creating a bilingual blog. It's to not only practice my french but also a place to reach the french community here on the big internet. I am sorry for my grammar both in english and in french but I try.
